AI in action

This step-by-step guide will save you hours of summarizing papers & reports.

AI PDF plugin on ChatGPT can summarise sections of the report and give you an output you can review for your presentations etc.

Prompt: I am giving a presentation at a medical conference. I will need help summarizing information from a review paper. I have a plugin AI pdf. Can you take me through the steps on how to use this plugin to summarize the PDF.

ChatGPT

  1. Provide the PDF URL: You'll need to have the review paper in a PDF format that's accessible via a URL. This could be a link from a journal's website, a cloud storage link, or any other direct link to the PDF.

  2. Use the summarize_pdf function: Once you have the URL, you can use the summarize_pdf function of the Ai_PDF plugin. This function will go through the entire document and provide a summary or highlights of the content.

    Example:

    Ai_PDF.summarize_pdf({ pdf_url: "YOUR_PDF_URL_HERE" });

  3. Review the Summary: The plugin will return a summary of the document, including quotes and page citations. This will give you a concise overview of the main points and findings of the review paper.

  4. Further Queries: If you need specific information or have questions about certain sections of the paper, you can use the upload_and_search_pdf function. This allows you to perform a semantic search within the PDF.

    Example:

    Ai_PDF.upload_and_search_pdf({ pdf_url: "YOUR_PDF_URL_HERE", query: "YOUR_SEARCH_QUERY_HERE" });

  5. Citations: Always remember that the plugin will provide quotes and page citations for the information extracted. This ensures that you can reference the original source accurately in your presentation.

  6. Finalize Your Presentation: Once you have all the summarized information and any additional details you searched for, you can incorporate them into your presentation slides, ensuring you cite the original paper where necessary.

END of ChatGPT response

PS: I copy the output into a canvas doc, review then, with one click, I turn the document into a presentation.
